Is Another Recession shaping up for 2012?

Posted on January 4, 2012 by robertmason2012

The U.S. economy showed some signs of improvement during 2011. National unemployment officially was down at the end of the year to 8.6 percent . At the beginning  of 2011, the average was 9.0% which rose to 9.2% by June before starting to slowly decline to the current 8.6% Unemployment claims per month were down from a weekly average of 404,000 in 2010 to 375,000 per week at the end of December 2011. Minimal improvements as we might observe. But that is the way 2011 has been. Very small steps as we try to dig ourselves out of the worst recession since the Great Depression. And because high unemployment rates persist, it seems like things never really improved in 2011. the saying I heard that the definition of a recession is when my neighbor is out of work and a depression is when I am out of work has a resonance about it. Although the jobless rates have improved, they are still well above pre-recession levels. . . .
